i once heard the there is no growth in the comfort zone and no comfort in the growth zone.

i am not sure if i always agree with that philosophy. and perhaps it applies best to working out, but there have been so many times this past year where i have felt like i had been pushed to my absolute limit. somehow i found a way to power through. and looking back those experiences were huge learning opportunities for me. i have grown so much this past year and am so grateful to be to new york city!

prior to coming out, i was overwhelmed with apprehension. i have wanted this for so long, but the closer it got the more i began to doubt myself. i am blessed with wonderful friends and family who were there to tell me to put on my big girl panties and stop being such a scaredy cat, well figuratively that is. but as soon as i walked off the plane, my fears subsided. and i am so excited for a great summer in the big city.

growing up, i always thought it would have been awesome to have an older brother. and now, it feels like i have several. here in new york within our little group, its the boys + me. i think i might just come back walking and talking like a boy. today i made them all laugh with my classic butcher joke and i felt so awesome. since i know you are now dyeing to hear it,

what happened when the butcher backed into the meat-grinder?

he got a little behind on his work

if you are a single girl in new york city this summer i know some fellas ya ought to meet. well, not wes, he is engaged, so stay away ladies.

ginger princess

growing up as a redhead in the nineties, it's a given that the little mermaid was my favorite disney princess. i distinctly remember my ariel themed birthday party. ariel made being redheaded alright. and then us gingers cheered when disney gave us another disney princess to idolize. amy adams made a lovely giselle. and enchanted was filled with some memborable tunes.

but then tonight i sat down and watched anatastia. and guess what?? she is totally a redhead too. but who ever talks about her? i am a fan. and the little puppy is so stinkin cute.

proof

signs of spring in provo

french minor

i am done! finished. forever. although my passion for the french language certainly fizzled out throughout my career at BYU, i certainly enjoyed my last class french ever. for my elective cultural credit, i took french and german film. it was my first class on a friday i had had for a long while, but i surprisingly didn't dread it as much as i had expected. fridays were our screening days and they were the best. for my final, i chose to write about the film, Cléo from 5-7. each time i watch it i notice something else. the film was directed by agnes varda who was a trained photographer so of course the filming is just stunning. if you have netflix, its on instant play... do it!

some of my other favorite films in that class were:

run lola run
wings of desire
pepe le moko
paris qui dort

vegas roadtrip!

packing and moving have never been enjoyable! but i knew as soon as my bags were in my car i'd be heading to VEGAS! nick, zack and i drove down on friday afternoon to spend the weekend in vegas. when we arrived on friday, we met up with sara and mike and we all explored city center. we could have been satisfied hanging out here all night long!

droog
they even had sara's favorite little radio for sale!

on saturday we were able to pull some strings and go for a tour of the neon museum. it was probably the best thing i have ever done in vegas. we couldn't get enough of it. we will definately be going back when the permanent museum opens at the end of this year. who is coming with us??

best roadtrip buddies
when we got home we all passed out poolside, for a couple of hours. we all showed up at the wedding a bit red. jana and collin's wedding was so beautiful and jana looked amazing and collin was quite dashing himself. and the food was great! it think we all agreed that the carrot cake with cream cheese frosting covered in caramel was an excellent decision.

it is crazy to think that next time i will see all my roadtrip friends will be in NYC!!

thumbs up

please forgive me for the hipster photo
couldn't resist
hip hip hooray for manicures and flip flops. y'all are prolli thinking i should of ordered up a pedicure too. those poor little toes of mine havent seen the sunlight for some time now. and they took quite a beating in new york. i would really like the weather to make up its mind and decide to be spring. i get quite jealous when my mom is talking about bbqing, gardening and swimming while i am still crossing my fingers every morning as i look out the window to check for snow.

soon to be a senior

i am quite excited that next year when i get out of class the sun will still be shining! however being in class at 8 in the morning will sure be an adjustment for me. if you havent completed the advanced writing credit yet, take the class with nick, miguel and i, its sure to be a party. and yes i knew id finally have to come around to taking physical science. wish me luck.

and for some reason i have been so checked out of school for the past couple of days. i'm just day dreaming of the wonderful day to come in NYC. however i am having a hard time realizing that before that, there is an ad campaign that need to be done, a poster that needs designing, a paper that needs writing, a final worth studying for, labeling that needs reworking, and packaging that needs to be made. man oh man. and even writing that all out somehow does not alarm me. someone help me, perhaps ill chain myself to a chair in the lab and block hulu, netflix, facebook and the blog world, and duck tape my fat mouth closed and then perhaps id be productive. but for now i think i'll go get my nails did

whip it whip it good

go get some

tonight i decided to go workout for the first time in months and afterwards of course the first thought that came to my head was its time for dessert. so i did just that. all sweatily i made my way to farrs, which in case you are wondering is over by university mall. this lovely place has the freshest fruit, tons of yogurt choices, anddddd pineapple dole whip. pineapple dole whip is one of my most favorite things about disneyland. nothing is better on a hot summers day than to get a whip and eat it up in the tiki tiki tiki room. and even though i found out this week that i am lactose intolerant, i can still indulge in this tasty treat without an upset stomach!

ps. next time im going to take mine home to make a float with pineapple juice cus doesnt that look amazing

hip hip horray

happy birthday pops

daddy's little girl

its my daddys birthday and i wish i could be with the rest of the family this weekend to celebrate. i am lucky to have such a great dad. i love him so much! and if you were wondering where my red locks came from, isnt it quite obvious now. haha and look at how full of spunk i was

chanson d'automne

Les saglots longs
Des violons
De l'automne
Blessent mon coeur
D'une langueur
Monotone.
Tout suffocant
Et blême, quand
Sonne l'heure,
Je me souviens
Des jours anciens
Et je pleure;
Et je m'en vais
Au vent mauvais
Qui m'emporte
Deçà, delà,
Pareil à la
Feuille morte.

i know it is springtime now and today's weather was beautiful, but this poem came to mind tonight. i really love this poem by paul verlaine and you all should just listen to someone read it in french, its beautiful. but what ive really been thinking about is how time is flying by so crazy fast, i cant believe. i will soon be a senior and will soon be in new york and will soon be a bridesmaid in my best friends wedding. wasnt it just yesterday i was learning to drive in the old mini van in the west valley college parking lot? i remember as a senior in high school thinking it would be forever til we were finally off to college but now it seems like these past three years have just flown by. we will see what changes the next couple of years bring.
